Autocorrelation

I tried to explain this process on my podcast, Small Findings, but I found that it was just way too hard to do without showing numbers. So, instead, I went through an audio analogy for the process on the podcast and moved the math explanation here.

I looked into autocorrelation a few weeks ago. My friend Hugh introduced it to me as a way to detect repeating patterns in words and sounds.

Take home tests

I’m currently looking at potential new jobs and started talking to a company that looked like it had potential. They asked me to do a take home test to prove that I was worth interviewing. Ultimately, I said no to that.

Making sure a Firefox add-on is safe

A big problem with installing a Firefox add-on or Chrome extension is that you have no idea what it does.

You only know what it says it does, and you know what permissions you grant it, but the permissions are broad. A lot of add-ons require “Access data for all websites” in order to work. The add-on could be doing anything with that data.
