A while back, a colleague at work pointed out a nifty tl;dr slider on the Parametric Press site. You can move it all the way to the left to get the gist of the article. The further you move it to the right, the more words (and details) you’ll get.

I’ve made several bots over the years. They’re mostly Twitter bots. Some of them are throwaway larks, and some of them only work in the moment. If Twitter becomes too harmful to humanity to gift with free content, I’m OK with letting those go. However, there are many bots whose fate I want to keep in my own hands, rather than Twitter’s. To that end, I built a static site updater.

I have a web page at which I was rendering 14,000 DOM elements. (It’s this work-in-progress visualizer for GitHub projects. And maybe someday other projects, too?) Things were getting choppy under that load, especially on the phone.
